Ever since my live stream a few days ago, the weather hasn't cooperated from an astronomical perspective. I saw that today would be clear, so I decided I would try an experiment: I wanted to catch something, ideally a plane, crossing the sun's disk.

Full disclosure: I live in a major city (Houston), not too far from one of the airports. (Just a few miles / kilometers.). We regularly get planes flying overhead, either approaching the airport, or climbing-out. We also get various helicopters and such. Many times, the planes go by at such an angle that the shadow will visibly go over our house. So I decided I wanted to try to video that.

I had an approach in mind on how I wanted to attempt this (which I'll document in a subsequent article). I guessed it would take some patience, and might not even happen today, but surprisingly I got the below video on the 3rd try. (I tried another couple dozen times throughout the day, but the planes all missed the sun, so your mileage may vary.)
